Siakam was born on April 2, 1994, in Douala, Cameroon, to parents Tchamo and Victorie Siakam. During his high school years, he attended God's Academy. Siakam committed to playing college basketball for the New Mexico State Aggies in 2013 and played two seasons at New Mexico State. He averaged 16.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 68 games during his college career.
Siakam was picked up by the Toronto Raptors with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft. Siakam's biggest achievement was winning the NBA championship with the Raptors in 2019. He subsequently agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $136.9 million with them (via Spotrac). He has earned All-NBA honors twice, making the Second Team in 2020 and the Third Team in 2022. In 2019, he was named the NBA Most Improved Player.
