Siakam was drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the 27th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He scored his career-high 52 points in a 113–106 win over the New York Knicks on December 21, 2022,

Siakam's biggest coup was winning the NBA championship with the Raptors in 2019. He subsequently agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $130 million with them. He is a two-time NBA All-Star and has been selected once each to the All-NBA Second and All-NBA Third Team. He was also voted the NBA Most Improved Player in 2019.

Siakam's style of play has often drawn comparisons between him and Warriors' forward Draymond Green for their incredible ability to guard all positions and shrewd basketball knowledge. Also considered one of the best defenders in the NBA, Siakam is widely recognized for being able to guard opposing players from the 1 through 5 positions, and for his efficiency as a rim protector in addition to being an excellent perimeter defender. He is also arguably one of the best transition players in the league.
