Quentin Grimes plays as shooting guard for the New York Knicks. Though only in his third NBA season, Grimes has already made an impression as a reliable scorer and defender off the bench. He was drafted by the LA Clippers with the 25th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, but was soon traded to the Knicks.

Grimes attended Woodland College Park High School in Texas, where he was a consensus five-star recruit. As a senior, he averaged 29.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, leading his team to a state championship. He was named Texas Gatorade Player of the Year and earned McDonald’s All-American honors.

For college, Grimes committed to the University of Kansas. As a freshman, he started 36 games and averaged 8.4 points. However, he decided to transfer to the University of Houston after one year. Grimes moved back home to Texas, joining the Houston Cougars.

After sitting out a redshirt year due to NCAA transfer rules, Grimes had a breakout sophomore season at Houston. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Grimes earned Second Team All-AAC honors and helped lead the Cougars to the Sweet Sixteen.

After playing just 17.1 minutes per game in his rookie season, Grimes saw increased playing time in his second NBA season. With 29.9 minutes per game, Grimes averaged 11.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest in the 2022/23 season.

Still only 23 years old, Quentin Grimes likely has a lot of time to develop. The young shooting guard plays with confidence and aggressiveness on both ends of the court.
