Tyrese Maxey has been quietly blossoming into NBA’s rising superstar over the last few seasons. What is surprising is that, aside from 76ers fans, not many are talking about it. In the first three games of the ‘23-24 season, he has been averaging 30.3 points, 6.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game, and it looks like the wait for Maxey to become a star is over. Drafted in 2020 as the 21st pick of the 1st round, he was picked by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The recent blockbuster trade that took place between the 76ers and the L.A Clippers involved NBA superstar James Harden. While Harden was a great fit for the Sixers but at the same time, he may have limited touches for Maxey. While the pick and roll game between Harden and Embiid was almost unstoppable, the fact remains that Harden is one of the most ball dominant players in the league. Maxey, on the other hand, is not a traditional point guard either. He is a pure scorer and will give you a lot more buckets than plays.

Maxey’s potential was sky high but when the 76ers traded for Harden, it limited his growth. This season he has been averaging 30.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assist on a ridiculous 56 percent from deep and 50 percent from the field. Even though the season has just started and those numbers will drop, Maxey is having an All-Star year. Currently, Maxey looks like he will be a frontrunner for the Most Improved Player. Meanwhile for the 76ers, the Harden trade may be more of a blessing than curse.

Tyrese Maxey’s shoes

Tyrese Maxey has recently signed a deal with New Balance. The terms of the deal are not known but it is reportedly a multi-year sneakers deal. Maxey has been seen rocking the New Balance Two Wxy V4 shoes, many times on the court.

Every star player in the NBA is always looking for the best shoe deal that they can get. Maxey is one of the best young guards in the NBA which helped his case to become an official New Balance athlete, joining the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Jamal Murray, Zach LaVine, and Dejounte Murray, to name a few.

James Harden and Ben Simmons are stars in their own rights however these two stars seemed to have held back Maxey’s growth potential. Back in the 2021-2022 NBA season, Ben Simmons refused to play for the Sixers and Harden on the other hand wanted his way out of Brooklyn. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey were caught in the drama as well and that was the story for the 76ers until recently.

Now that the coast looks clear for the Sixers, they can only focus on basketball. This also means unleashing Maxey’s true potential and looking forward to his development.
