Ja’Tavion Sanders is an American football player who plays the tight end position. In 2023 he last played college football at the University of Texas. Sanders was born on March 27, 2003, in the city of Denton, Texas. Having completed his junior year of college, Sanders is currently only 20 years of age as of February 2024.

Sanders is widely considered to be the second-best tight end in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft behind the clear number one - Brock Bowers. He is built like a beast standing at a height of 6 ft 4 in and weighing approximately 243 lb. His big frame makes it difficult for defenders to get him down quickly but that does not limit his speed in any way.

Not just speed, but Sanders also brings strength and athleticism to the table while on the football field. The Texas native showed great ability in getting the first downs in the middle of the field as well as getting open down the field on numerous occasions. Overall, in a not-so-deep tight-end class, Sanders should find himself picked in the earlier rounds during the draft.

Ja'Tavion Sanders College

Sanders’ college football career started in 2021 as a freshman at the University of Texas. Playing for the Texas Longhorns football team, Sanders spent the entirety of his first season featuring only on the special teams, and most notably on the field goal unit.

The next year, however, Sanders was given his opportunity as he was named the starting tight end for the year. While scouting his abilities in his freshman season, the Longhorns coaches decided he would be a better fit at the tight end position. His 54 receptions that year resulted in 613 receiving yards and a haul of 5 receiving touchdowns.

Sanders then continued his good run of form into the 2023 season and in 14 games he caught 45 catches for 682 yards and 2 receptions for touchdowns. He became the first Longhorn tight end to record multiple career 100-yard receiving games.

At the end of the 2023 season, Sanders became a two-time First-Team All-Big 12 in 2022 and 2023. He also finished with 99 catches which is the most for a tight end in Longhorns’ history.

Ja'Tavion Sanders High School

Sanders, who was born in Denton, Texas attended Billy Ryan High School where he played on the school’s football team. However, at the time he used to play the wide receiver position on offense and played as a defensive end on the other side of the ball.

The former Longhorns tight end was actually a fairly decent defensive player in his high school days providing the team with crucial tackles, sacks, and forced fumbles. Along with that, he put up terrific numbers as a pass catcher finishing his last two years with nearly 2,000 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns through the air.

By the time he graduated from high school, Sanders was rated as a five-star recruit and held numerous offers from top Universities such as Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, and many more.
