Where did Ray-Ray McCloud go to college?

The San Francisco 49ers running back and return specialist Ray-Ray McCloud is in his fifth season in the NFL. He was picked by the Buffalo Bills months after releasing him in the practice squad. In January 2020, McCloud signed a reserve contract with the Bills. Surprisingly things in his second stint with the Bills didn’t work either as he was waived again in six months. McCloud then signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March 2021.

He became the Steelers’ first-string return specialist averaging 10.7 yards that season. McCloud led the NFL in total punt-return yards gained in 2021. At the end of his contract, he joined the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year contract. McCloud responds quickly.

He grew up with the Super Bowl Champion Nelson Agholor whom he met in youth football. McCloud's College stats are an overall feast for a scout. He was marked as a potential prospect when he declared for the 2018 NFL Draft.

McCloud attended Clemson University playing for the Tigers. Ray-Ray McCloud's college career is decorated with a National Championship win in 2016. As a freshman, he played in 12 games catching 29 passes for 251 yards. McCloud’s college time as a sophomore is one of his peak seasons. He played in 14 games of the 15 tailing 49 receptions for 472 yards and two touchdowns. McCloud led the team to a National Championship that year.

After turning down States like Alabama, Auburn and Florida, McCloud played for three seasons with the Tigers. He recorded 78 career receptions for 733 yards. He, during his college career, also added 182 career punt return yards and 126 kickoff return yards. McCloud was Clemson’s Player of the Year for co-special teams in 2016 and was a second-team All-American pick as a punt returner.

Born in Tampa Florida, McCloud attended Sickles High School. He played as a wide receiver, setting hometown county records with 5,765 rushing yards and 58 total touchdowns. As a senior, he scored 17 touchdowns while rushing 1,933 yards. McCloud received the “Guy Toph” Award as the best player in Hillsborough County that year.

Ray-Ray McCloud Draft

McCloud was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round with the 187th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, he was waived from the squad in August 2019. McCloud had a short spell of two months at the Carolina Panthers after that.
