Joshua Patrick Allen plays in the National Football League (NFL) for the Buffalo Bills. He is a quarterback. Before transferring to the University of Wyoming, he played one year of junior college football at Reedley College. He has led the University of Wyoming’s Cowboys to a Mountain West Conference division title and two bowl games.
in the 2018 NFL Draft, he was drafted seventh overall by the Bills. He was the highest drafted NFL player from Wyoming. He led the Bills to a 10-win season in his second year as a starter, and also their second playoff appearance since 1999. Allen broke several franchise passing records during his third year as starter. This included the most passing yards and touchdowns in a single season. He also led Buffalo to its first divisional title and playoff win since 1995.
Allen led an offense that averaged 452.2 yards of total offense per game in his only season with Reedley College. He was ranked No. 9 among all California junior-college teams in total offense for the performance. Then later at Wyoming, although he contemplated declaring for the NFL draft in 2017, he later decided to remain for one more year at college before declaring. In 2017, he threw for 1,812 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
On July 25, 2018, following his Draft pick, he signed a four-year, $21 million contract with the Bills. In his rookie season, he led all quarterbacks with eight rushing touchdowns. He finished the 2019 season with 3,089 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and nine interceptions in correspondence to his 109 carries for 510 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. With four fourth quarter comebacks and five game-winning drives, he also led the league that season. In a single game with above 25 pass yards, above 40 rush yards and above 15 receiving yards, Allen was just the third player since 1975 to achieve this feat.
Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week four times throughout the 2020 season, making him the first player in the Bills’ franchise history to win the award at least three times in a single season. He was also named to the 2021 Pro Bowl.
