Draymond Green has received plenty of criticism lately for a variety of topics. One of those topics has been Green's decision to launch a podcast, despite remaining an active NBA player. Green recently responded to critics by citing entrepreneurs who have been successful in two fields of interest.

Appearing as a guest speaker at Tech Crunch Disrupt, Green stated:

"Jack Dorsey built Twitter and Square at the same time. Elon Musk built SpaceX and Tesla at the same time. We're talking about four of the greatest companies in modern history. They did that at the same time, and I'm not competent enough to a podcast after a game? It shows you the level of respect, or lackthereof, for athletes."

Green's comments represent the bigger picture of a society that expects athletes to only be athletes. We have often seen athletes criticized for venturing into other fields, as some fans feel that it may distract them from their commitment to the team.

We have even seen athletes criticized for voicing their opinion, as LeBron James was famously told to 'shut up and dribble'. While many simply want athletes to be entertainers, they have discovered the power that comes with the platforms that they hold.

Will Draymond Green remain with the Golden State Warriors after this season?

Draymond Green was involved in a shocking altercation with Golden State Warriors teammate Jordan Poole. Following the incident, many analysts speculated that Green's tenure with the Warriors, which has included four championship runs, could be coming to an end.

While the Warriors' on-court chemistry did not suffer from the incident, NBA analyst Nick Wright shared that he believes the organization is tired of Green's antics. Speaking on his podcast, What's Wright with Nick Wright, he stated:

"I believe Draymond's sincere [in his apology], but I also believe that Steve Kerr and Bob Meyers are fed up with this. Do I think this will impact his ability to get a contract extension? Of course, I do. If this Warriors season goes sideways, do I think we now have an epicenter of where it started? Yeah, I do."

While it is unclear if Green will remain with Golden State, the team is well into the luxury tax, even without extending him. While their owner has shown a willingness to pay the luxury tax, their 2023-2024 bill is expected to be near $300 million. Re-signing Green, assuming he doesn't opt into his contract, and that number will continue to skyrocket.
