Moscow, Aug 24 (IANS/RIA Novosti):

Boxing champion Vitali Klitschko has proved he has brains as well as brawn after playing to a draw against former World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, a Ukrainian news website reported Thursday.

The match took place in Switzerland, where the WBC Heavyweight Champion is preparing for his Sept 8 defence against German contender Manuel Charr at Moscow’s Olimpiisky arena.

“Kramnik, before putting me in check, offered a draw and I agreed,” Klitschko was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian website.

Klitschko, 41, is the first boxing champion with a Ph.D. degree, which earned him his nickname Dr. Ironfist.

Kramnik, 37, held the Classical World Chess Championship title from 2000 to 2006, and the undisputed World Chess Championship from 2006 to 2007.
