Alexander Grischuk wins World Blitz Championship

Russia continues to rule the chess world. After the World Rapid Chess Championships win in 2012, Alexander Grischuk won the World Blitz Chess Championships, in Astana, Kazakhstan on Monday.

Grischuk, finished half-a-point ahead of World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen. Grischuk played inspiring chess despite being unwell, to carry forward his first match day lead.

Carlsen won eight straight games in a row, but could not catch up with the Russian Grandmaster. Rapid Chess Champion, Sergey Karjakin finished behind the duo at third place. Carlsen finished runner-up in the World Rapid Championships too.Final Standings
