Rishab Pant will be in contention for India's ODI squad

We are halfway through the tournament and some players have already made a very strong impact with their consistent performances. India is still looking to fill some voids in their middle order. Many players have been tried but we have still not managed to find the perfect combination. Indian selectors are currently open to giving opportunities to few players to find the perfect balance in the middle order. IPL is the perfect stage for players to showcase their abilities and make a strong case for themselves.

Let us look at three Indian players who have made a strong case for themselves:

Rishabh Pant

A 20-year-old attacking batsman from Delhi, he has come into his own in this year's IPL. He has scored 393 runs in 10 matches at an average of 39.3 and an amazing strike rate of 173.12. His form has been sublime and he is striking the ball beautifully.

With India looking for someone at 5 or 6 who can hit those big shots right from the word go, Rishab Pant makes a strong case for himself. He can replace Kedhar Jadhav.

He can be used in different positions as per the match situation and with his ability to play big shots, he can be a real asset for the team.

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has come into his own in this year's IPL. He has been the mainstay of Chennai's batting this year. With his ability to bat in different positions, he has made a strong case for himself. MSK Prasad, chairman of the National Selection Committee has also heaped praise on Ambati Rayudu. He is the leading run scorer in this year's IPL with 423 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 151.61. He can be a solution to the number 4 position that India is looking to fill. Manish Pandey is not having a good IPL and there is a high chance that Ambati Rayudu will be in contention for his spot.

With loads of experience, he can be a real asset for India. He has a strong technique and that will also be extremely helpful in England. He is now a part of the one-day international squad for the England series.

KL Rahul has been in sublime for in this year's IPL with 471 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 156.47 He along with Chris Gayle has formed a strong partnership at the top of the order and are the most destructive opening pair in this year's IPL. He has always been regarded highly by the experts but has failed to cement his place in the team.

With his ability to score quickly at the top of the order, he can be considered to open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit Sharma can play the role that he is playing for Mumbai Indians by coming in at 4. There are a lot of options and a lot of thinking to do for the Indian think-tank. He is now a part of the one day international and T20 squad for the England series.
