Steve Smith decided against the review before the replays showed the clear picture in IND vs AUS 2023 World Cup final.

Steve Smith departed cheaply in the 2023 World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. The right-handed batter was dismissed for just four runs off nine deliveries.

Smith's dismissal took place in the seventh over of Australia’s run chase. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a fuller-length ball onto the off-stump and the batter failed to put his bat on the ball before it hit the pads.

In a rare sight, Smith looked confused and asked his partner Travis Head about reviewing the decision. Head asked him not to waste the DRS and the former Aussie skipper walked back to the dressing room.

The replays, though, showed that the impact was outside the stumps, and a DRS could’ve easily saved Smith.

For the unversed, Mohammed Shami provided the first breakthrough for India by dismissing David Warner caught by Virat Kohli at slips. Jasprit Bumrah then sent back Mitchell Marsh, who got caught by wicketkeeper KL Rahul.
