Briar updates hit League of Legends PBE patch 14.2 cycle, massively nerfing her assassin build

Briar is set to receive a lot of changes to her kit in League of Legends patch 14.2, where Riot Games will be looking to nerf her lethality and crit build, bringing her closer to the role of a bruiser. Briar’s lethality builds with Duskblade and Collector have made her one of the most oppressive champions to play against during the mid to late game.

Although the jungler was originally intended to be a bruiser, players have been finding ways to make the most of her kit with crit and lethality items, to the point where she is one-shotting carries.

Riot Games recently addressed this in a Twitter post and suggested that they will be looking to nerf her lethality/crit build, pushing her more towards the role of a bruiser.

Some changes have already made their way to the League of Legends PBE patch 14.2 cycle, where the developers will first be testing the update before shipping them with the official patch.

All Briar changes in League of Legends PBE patch 14.2 cycle

Here are all the changes that have made their way to Briar in the LoL PBE server:

P: Crimson curse

• Healing amp: .5% per 1% missing hp >>> .4% (+.03% per 100/Bonus health) per 1% missing hp Bleed tick rate: 1s >>> .5s

Q: Head Rush

• Damage: 60-180(+80% BAD) physical >>> 60-180(+80% BAD) (+60% AP) magic
• Shred: 10-20% armor >>> 10-20% armor and MR
• Now applies on-hit effects and lifesteal

W: Blood Frenzy/Snack Attack

• Bite Healing: 36-60% of damage dealt >>> 25-45% of damage dealt + 5% of Briar's max HP W no longer crits the 5-65(+5% AD) bonus damage.

When talking about the upcoming Briar changes, Riot August stated,

“Some experimental changes to Briar are going to PBE today. Taking a larger swing at bringing her lethality/crit build closer to bruiser. Added some HP/on-hit scalings + reduced scaling with lethality/crit/burst damage.”

Briar’s assassin build nerfs will go live with League of Legends patch 14.2, which is expected to drop on the Rift on January 24, 2024. It will be quite interesting to see how her win rate and position in the meta changes once the changes hit.
