Kimi Raikkonen along with Daniel Ricciardo was penalised for pit lane error

Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen and Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo will both start one place behind at the Canadian Grand Prix. The due was penalized for not queuing up correctly at the pit exit when Q2 resumed in Montreal on Saturday following the red flag for Felipe Massa’s accident. The 15 remaining cars all waited at the end of the pit lane with several drivers taking the inside line and passing others.

Raikkonen jumped from fourth in the queue to second, and Ricciardo from sixth to fourth. No action was taken against Pastor Maldonado, Jean-Eric Vergne and Sergio Perez, none of whom gained places. In fact, Maldonado managed to lose one.

As a result, they were put at a disadvantage of two places on the grid, but both drivers actually lose just one place on the provisional grid and will now start Sunday’s race from 10th and 11th respectively, while Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg moves up two places to ninth.
