Arsenal‘s club captain Thomas Vermaelen wants to stay at the club and fight for his place.

Vermaelen was a surprise starter against Manchester United, but that was only because Per Mertesacker was taken ill due to a flu. He said, “I’m still confident I can play for this club.

“I keep reading stories that I want to leave. But that’s not the case. I’m still focused on the team. I am always positive.”
