Arsenal’s £42m man: “It’s a lot of fun” living in London

The London Evening Standard report that Arsenal’s German trio Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker have admitted how much they love life in London.

Ozil, Podolski and Mertesacker took to the air this week in the Emirates Air Line cable car, the first of its kind in London.

While travelling from Greenwich in the South to the Royal docks in the North, the trio had time to reflect on their time spent in London so far while enjoying some of the best views in the city.

Ozil only recently moved to the capital in a deal worth £42.5 million from Real Madrid and has already settled in.

“They [Podoski and Mertesacker] have helped me,” he said. “It’s good to have people I know here. They have lived here for a number of years and they have told me a lot about London.

“I have settled in really well. I have a house in London and I am enjoying living here. It’s a lot of fun.”

Mertesacker has been at the club for slightly longer following his 2011 move from Werder Bremen and is loving London.

He said: “I’ve watched tennis at the O2 and the NBA also comes here. It’s really exciting to live here and enjoy the life. We haven’t been to a cricket match so far, so that’s one of our targets for next year”.

Asked about the differences between London and his native Germany, he simply replied: “your food.”

Podolski was quizzed on his favourite location, to which he replied: “You have a lot in London, so I don’t have one favourite.”
