Capital One Cup: Picking the Chelsea team to face United

We have a chance to put right the wrongs of Sunday tomorrow night at Stamford Bridge, as we take on Manchester United again, this time in the Capital One Cup.

Chelsea will want to hit back and beat United tomorrow but RDM has a problem. With John Terry due to serve the third game of his four-match suspension, and in addition having Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic suspended for this one as well, and Frank Lampard remaining injured, the squad looks thin.

To be honest, I don’t care what side Fergie will put out tomorrow night, because all I am interested in is what Chelsea will do, and I wonder how RDM will approach this one.

His hand is forced with JT, Torres and Ivanovic suspended, which gives a chance to Cesar Azpilicueta and Daniel Sturridge to start, with Gary Cahill continuing once again alongside David Luiz at the back. But what other changes will he make?

There is an argument for the likes of Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, Marko Marin and Victor Moses to be given starts in this one and I really hope that RDM decides to do that. It’s really important to make these players feel like a part of the team and give them game time. Our main men Mata and Hazard should be there to provide that extra magic in our attack, and I hope that RDM rests Mikel and Cole for this one as they’ve played most of the matches and need rest.

We need to see what these players can do and how much strength in depth Chelsea have in their squad this season.

So, this is the team I personally would like RDM to start with tomorrow night:

Turnbull, Azpiliceuta, Cahill, Luiz, Bertrand, Hazard, Romeu, Moses, Mata, Marin, Sturridge.

What do you people think? Do you agree with my team selection or have one of your own?

Carefree & KTBFFH!
