Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has dismissed rumors linking him with a possible return to England side as “absurd”.

Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move to Manchester United or Arsenal.

The Barcelona native returned to the Nou Camp only in 2011, but Premier League clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal have been trying their best to tempt him away from the Catalans.

“I’ve always said that I’m happy at Barca. Whoever says that I’m leaving doesn’t know me and has never spoken with me,” the Spain international said.

“If someone says I don’t want to play at Barca, it’s completely absurd.”

The ex-Gunner was with the youth team of Barcelona from the age of 10 to 16, after which he joined Arsenal.

He scored 57 goals over 303 games during his career with the London club, spanning eight years.

He was the youngest player ever for the Arsenal first team when he made his debut in a match against Rotherham United in a League Cup match in October 2003, aged 16 years and 177 days.

Last season alone, Fabregas started in 30 of Barcelona’s 38 games, while also making the starting lineup of six of the team’s 12 games in the Champions League. Unfortunately, on many of these occasions, he was substituted, which eventually proved the starting point of rumors painting a picture of his discontentment with the La Liga champions.

Given the history that Fabregas shares with the Spanish side, it is highly unlikely that the player will contemplate relinquishing all that for a move to England clubs.

During an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, Fabregas has insisted that he is not planning to leave Barca any time soon and also added: “My agent knows that I don’t want him to talk with other people about me.”
