Euro 2012: Bargain tickets available for Ukraine matches

World class football tickets for Sunday League prices as tensions take hold.

With the Euro 2012 Championships about to kick off, fans appear to be dumping tickets for matches in the Ukraine by the truckload and trying to offload at below face value.

Viagogo, Europe’s largest ticketing marketplace, has seen tickets for Germany versus Holland and England versus Ukraine available for as little as £15. Tickets for England’s first match of the tournament against France were trading for just £25.

There are also Category One tickets – the best seats available at each of the matches and originally priced at £120 – on sale for just £50.

Matches in Poland are faring better. Tickets for Spain versus the Republic of Ireland in Gdansk are on sale for around £300 against a face value price of £40.

Edward Parkinson, viagogo spokesperson comments: “On the face of it, this is not quite turning out to be the event that the Championship organisers had hoped for. It seems that the political issues and racial tension in the Ukraine are putting off fans across Europe.”

But, if certain teams like England perform well in the early stages and problems don’t surface in the Ukraine, it is likely that football fervour will take over and tickets for later stages should sell much better.
