Everton reject Manchester United's £28 million bid for Baines and Fellaini, call it 'derisory' and 'insulting'

Manchester United have a had a joint bid of £28 million for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines rejected by Everton. The duo worked under current Manchester United boss David Moyes at Everton.

A club statement on Everton’s official website states that these “bids were immediately rejected out of hand as derisory and insulting.”

Belgium international Fellaini, 25, had a £23.5 million release clause in his contract which expired at the end of July. The BBC earlier reported that Manchester United bid £16 million for Fellaini and £12 million for Baines.

The Red Devils had a bid of £12 million for England and Everton left-back Leighton Baines rejected in June and have failed to up their offer with this latest bid.

Both players started for Everton on Saturday as they drew 2-2 with Norwich at Carrow Road.

Everton are determined to hold on to their most important players and it remains to be seen if Manchester United and David Moyes up their bid.
