Hugo Lloris has made over 100 appearances for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris hopes that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy ‘honours his promise’ if Manchester United makes a bid for the 28-year-old custodian. French newspaper L'Équipe has claimed that Daniel Levy had promised Hugo Lloris to let him leave if an offer of €25m or more comes in, when he signed a five-year contract with the Spurs last year.

Lloris is seen as a replacement for Spain international David de Gea, who is destined to leave for Real Madrid this summer. 24-year-old de Gea hasn’t signed a contract extension with the Red Devils and is tipped by many to succeed Iker Casillas at Santiago Bernabeu.

Hugo Lloris has made a big impression at Spurs since his transfer from Lyon in 2012. He has made over 100 appearances for the club and has been the undisputed no.1 between the posts during his stay.

However, he dreams of playing in the Champions League, something which he misses at the White Hart Lane. Tottenham Hotspur last qualified for the Champions League in the 2010/11 season, their first ever appearance in the competition.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have qualified for next season’s Champions League, but will have to navigate the playoffs in September in order to qualify for the group stages of the competition.

"The Champions League remains an important competition, the highest level in Europe, so obviously I want to participate and rub shoulders with the biggest European teams,” Lloris was quoted as saying earlier this month.

“I work towards that every day.”
