Shaw wants his move to United done before heading for Brazil

With the confirmed departures of manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham and striker Rickie Lambert to Liverpool for £4.5m, it is fair to say that Southampton are in a state of flux. After a week of deliberation it looks as though Luke Shaw has more bad news for the Saints faithful, as it looks like he has made his mind up and wants to join Manchester United, but, before he leaves for Brazil along with the England squad.

When Patrice Evra was given a contract extension last week, Shaw considered his position and wondered whether he would still be first choice at Old Trafford. But, after a lot of thinking, Shaw is intent on moving to the Red Devils, with the club racing against the clock to sign the 18-year-old before he leaves to Brazil.

United, who have been courting the teenager, ever since Moyes was in charge, looked to have sealed the deal, only for the player to consider his position. But, now that he has made it clear that he would like to leave, United are hoping to sign him up as soon as possible. With a summer of major rebuilding in the pipeline, signing Shaw would be the perfect way to start their summer transfer window.

With England leaving for their Miami camp on Sunday, following Friday evening’s match with Peru at Wembley, the deal is unlikely to go through before then. But since the team are there in Florida for a week before they head to Brazil, both the parties of hopeful of putting pen to paper on a £30m deal, which would see him pocket a tidy £100,000 a week and make him the world’s highest-paid teenager.
