Alvaro Negredo (34): Scored City’s winner with one of four shots on goal.

Substitutes:

James Milner (2): On for 19 minutes and made seven of his nine passes.

Edin Dzeko (4): Not on for long, but managed to get one shot away and make six passes.

Javi Garcia (3): Only touched the ball once. On the plus side, that one tackle means he had a 100% tackle success rate …

Liverpool:

Simon Mignolet (-1) : Produced an error in a big game and was culpable for City’s winner, having been so solid for the rest of the season so far.

Glen Johnson (-20): Quiet. Made two clearances and 27 passes.

Martin Skrtel (35): Didn’t misplace the ball, finishing the game with a 100% pass accuracy. He also won six of nine headed duels, but lost out on both duels with Kompany at Manchester City corners.

Mohamed Sakho (24): Made nine clearances and three tackles.

Aly Cissokho (15): A risky selection given his form and fitness, Cissokho was solid enough and made 91% of his passes.

Joe Allen (8): Failed to impose himself on possession, making the fewest passes of Liverpool’s central midfield trio. He made just 59% of the number of passes that Yaya Toure completed.

Jordan Henderson (-5): Quieter than recent weeks, Henderson was successful in just one of his four attempted tackles.

Raheem Sterling (11): Assisted Coutinho’s opener but really should have given his side a share of the points with a second half chance.

Coutinho (33): Gave Liverpool the lead with a neat finish from a tight angle and was unlucky not to score again at the end of a flowing first half move.

Luis Suárez (47): Liverpool’s most dangerous player, Suarez took five shots at Joe Hart’s goal, completed four take ons and set up three Liverpool chances.
