Manchester United: 3 left backs to replace Patrice Evra

Luke Shaw

Patrice Evra is easily one of the best left backs in the premier league. But, aged 32, the Frenchman is not getting younger by day. With his contract at Old Trafford coming to end soon, this season may well be his last one at Old Trafford.

Now let’s see 3 Left Backs who can replace Patrice Evra permanently for the Red Devils without degrading the squad’s quality.

3. Luke Shaw

One of the key figures in the new rejuvenated Southampton side, who are performing above expectations this season. Luke Shaw is just 18 year old but he already established himself well in the Saints’ starting lineup.

Even though Shaw had signed a five-year deal recently, which enables him to stay with the south coast club until June 2018, a move to a bigger club like Manchester United may tempt him away from the Saints.

Shaw is quick and has good ball control and dribbling skills to beat players at will when going forward. Despite being very young, he has the maturity to know when to go forward and when to stay back and help the defense.

2. Fabio Coentrao

According to Marca, Manchester United were linked with a move for Real Madrid full back during the Summer transfer window. But the move failed to materialize as Real Madrid made it very clear that they won’t sell the Portuguese full back for anything less than €20m.

Fabio Coentrao has all the attributes to have a successful career with the Red Devils. Even though being weak in defense, he neutralize that with his amazing attacking abilities and lightning-paced overlapping runs. He is good shooter of the ball too. He is also versatile enough to play as a left midfielder when the situation demands it

With him struggling for gametime at Real Madrid, Moyes may use this as a bait to lure the attacking fullback to Old Trafford.

1. Leighton Baines

Baines to Manchester United?

Baines to Manchester United?

The Everton star needs no introduction in English football. Baines could have moved to any bigger clubs, but his loyalty to Everton made him stay with the toffees. He is an all-round left back with balanced attacking and defensive skills. His pinpoint crosses can split open any top defense in the league. Adding to this, Baines is also a good set piece taker, which adds a new dimension to his game play.

With David Moyes being his previous manager, United fans will hope that he can convince the England international to join the Red Devils.
