Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said today that each of his players deserve to have statues built if they manage to overtake Leicester City and win the Premier League this season.
The Foxes were 5000-1 favourites for the title, huge odds by any standards. They have been the surprise package this season and are now the favourites to win the title with just four games to go.
Pochettino has successfully managed to transform the perennially underachieving Spurs to title contenders this season. Usually in 5th or 6th place by this time every season, they are second to high-flying Leicester City this season and within a shout of the Premier League title.

Pochettino, on the other hand, is not bothered about the feel good factor and spirit surrounding Leicester’s unlikely underdog story. He stated,” If we won the championship, I think that every player would deserve a statue”.
The Tottenham manager adds that they know everyone wants Leicester City to win the title and they cannot fight the support and hype around the underdog club. They must fight against Leicester and believe that they can win the title.
Leicester City drew to West Ham 2-2 in a thrilling game of Premier League football at the King Power stadium on Sunday, extending their lead at the top of the table to 8 points from second-placed Spurs who have a game in hand.
Pochettino takes his team to play Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Monday night. Stoke have been a bogey team for the Argentine coach, as Pochettino has not tasted victory against the Potters in six matches since his time in England.
The Spurs manager though believes that his team have it in them to break the hoodoo, giving the example of his team beating Manchester United at White Hart Lane this season for the first time in 15 years. He says he could change his record against Stoke in the same manner.
Stressing the unpredictability of football, he said that anything can happen and nothing is impossible, “One thing can change things. We are in love with football because it is not predictable. I am a very positive person and I always believe that good things can happen.”
Tottenham have only five games to overtake Leicester, with the Foxes having an eight-point lead over the London side.
