Jose Mourinho open to working at another Premier league club but only if he is sacked

Jose Mourinho has claimed that he will stay at Chelsea for as long as club owner Roman Abramovich wants him to. Mourinho's Chelsea have made a fantastic start to the season and are still unbeaten. He however knows that should he fail to deliver silverware for the second consecutive season, it could be over for him.

"There's no other country, club or investment that motivates me. I will only leave when Mr Abramovich calls me to tell me it is over," Mourinho told Portuguese paper Record. "Only on that day will I look for other solutions.

"Last time [at Chelsea] it was different because even though I was heart and soul in the project I was leading, I always asked myself 'which will be the next one?' Now it's the first time I don't think about it."

The 51-year-old moved to Chelsea in 2004 having won the UEFA Cup and the Champions League in consecutive seasons with Porto.

His first press conference with the words "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one," announced his arrival in England. He won consecutive titles at the club, their first in over half a century but failed to repeat it in his third season in charge with Manchester United buoyed by Rooney and Ronaldo wresting the advantage back.

Mourinho had to leave Chelsea in September 2007 after an inconsistent start to the season but after having won an FA Cup and League Cup the previous season. Asked if he would be open to working at another Premier League club should things not work out at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho said that he will consider it but won’t entertain that thought right now.

He said: "If it had to be, yes, but my priority will always be Chelsea and never think about the interest of others.

"I know football and know I won't be here five, eight, 10 years if I don't manage to win. Of course not. That's not my essence as a coach, because I don't like to live in those comfort zones. It doesn't fit my personality.

"When I have to think about the matter then we'll see. The difference is that last time I didn't have the aim of staying many, many years. Now I'll stay as long as they want me to. I really am the happy one."
