Premier League transfer news: Alex Sandro to Chelsea, PSG star to Arsenal and more - 3rd January 2018

Juventus FC v Empoli FC - Serie A
Conte could finally get his man

It's the third day of the January window and we might just have a miracle on our hands. Today has been the quietest day for Manchester United as no new players have been linked with the Red Devils. Yes, please pick up your jaws.

In fact, the rumour mill has been heavily filled with Chelsea and Liverpool news along with some of the other clubs. So, without further ado, let’s have a read on some of the rumours for today.

#5 Palace’s two targets

Celtic v Rangers - Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership
Back to the PL?

Crystal Palace have been in the news mostly due to Wilfried Zaha. Zaha’s performances this season have attracted a lot of clubs towards him. However, this one is not about him. This one is about Palace being interested in two players.

According to The Sun, Palace are keen to bring Lille’s talented midfielder, Ibrahim Amadou to the club in order to fill the void left by Scott Dan’s injury, which will keep him out for the rest of the reason. An offer of £13 million will be placed for the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, according to bookmakers Bet Victor, Palace are 14/1 to sign Celtic star Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman has been linked with a host of clubs, with Crystal Palace being the latest among them.

#4 Watford’s war and Rafa’s refurbishments

RCD Espanyol v Real Madrid CF - La Liga
He might play under Rafa soon

Watford are seeking stability to be a constant in the midtable zone and, as a result, have been keen to sign reinforcements. Among them, the latest to be linked with the Hornets is Sunderland’s out-of-favour Didier Ndong, according to the Watford Observer.

Watford rate him at £8 million and will make a move for him this January.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Newcastle are also actively seeking players in the transfer market in a bid to make them a stronger team and, according to Northern Echo, have targeted Danny Ings of Liverpool and Islam Slimani of Leicester City.

Also, there is a report from Tribuna that states that Benitez would like to bring in Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid after the Blancos sign Kepa this window.

#3 Chelsea’s surge

AS Monaco v Juventus - UEFA Champions League Semi Final: First Leg
Everybody wants a piece of him

While he might not have been as blatant as Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been, Antonio Conte has often subtly suggested that his side needs more quality players in order to keep up with the likes of Manchester City.

And if the rumours are true, then Conte will be one happy man. According to Evening Standard, Chelsea are not only interested in Ross Barkley but have also targeted Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye as a potential signing.

But the biggest claim they make is that the Blues have joined the race to sign Thomas Lemar.

Meanwhile, according to the Mirror, the former Juventus boss could finally get one of his most coveted players, Alex Sandro, this month for £50 million, making him second-most expensive left-back of all time after Benjamin Mendy.

#2 Liverpool’s lavishness

Athletic Club v FC Barcelona - La Liga
Off to Anfield?

I am someone who likes to give the bad news first and then the good news after as it leaves a sweet taste in the mouth after the sourness. So, the bad. According to Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are seriously considering the acceptance of Barcelona’s £97.9 million offer for Philippe Coutinho.

And now the good. According to Don Balon, the limitless hub of rumours, Liverpool could trigger Rafinha’s exit clause of £66.5 million in a bid to replace their talismanic Brazilian. Rafinha doesn’t seem to be in Valverde’s plan after returning from a long-term injury.

Meanwhile, according to Sky, Thomas Lemar, who is being chased by the London trio of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, prefers Liverpool over his other suitors. According to Sky reporter, Kaveh Solhekol, Lemar would “probably prefer to go to Liverpool if he had a choice between Arsenal or Liverpool.”

PSG could sell him

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal have targeted Konstantinos Mavropanos in a bid to strengthen their defence. The 20-year-old Greek starlet has been in great form this season, which has prompted Wenger to make a £2.2 million bid for him.

That’s not all from Arsenal, however, as Metro claims that the Gunners are after Goncalo Guedes, on loan at Valencia from PSG, and will look to sign him as his parent club are also willing to let him go.

In terms of departure news, Turkish club Fenerbahce want to sign Olivier Giroud to replace the ex-Arsenal striker, Robin van Persie.

And then there is the news of Everton wanting to sign the highly coveted Jean Michael Seri from Nice, according to reports from France.

Yes, I can’t finish this slider without mentioning Manchester United even once, but this is about Mourinho being unhappy with Ed Woodward over Danny Rose.

According to the Metro, the Portuguese targeted Rose for the Red Devils, but Woodward thinks that he would be too expensive and is looking for cheaper alternatives instead.
