Rumoured: Liverpool 'want' all-action midfielder who silenced Manchester United

Southampton v Hull City - Barclays Premier League

Liverpool “want” Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana in order to reinforce their squad for a title challenge, according to the Metro.

Lallana has been in top form for Saints this season and was rewarded with a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad recently, prompting interest from the Reds.

“Every footballer in the whole Premier League would love to go to the World Cup,” Lallana said of his call-up. “It is what dreams are made of, it’s the pinnacle, so it’d be silly to say anything else really.”

“I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself. I’m just going to go away with England and enjoy it. Enjoy training, playing with the best players, not just in England, but in Europe and the world, and if anything comes off that then it does.

Liverpool have ambitions of finishing in the Champions Leagues spots this campaign and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be keen to reinforce his team in January.

Lallana has been in sensational form for Southampton this season, delivering a series of all-action performances – summed up by his 84 per cent tackle success rate.

Adam Lallana Stats

Lallana has also scored three goals this season, with one of them coming against Liverpool’s arch-rivals Man United. Against the Champions the Saints skipper was in exceptional form and created a staggering five chances, more than any player for either side.
