DEVIL FOR LIFE: Robin Van Persie wants to renew his contract with Manchester United

Robin Van Persie wants a fresh United deal and hopes to end his career at the club. The Daily Star reports.

Manchester United owe their Premier League success to the Dutchman who was red hot for the Red Devils last season and even won the golden boot for being the leagues top scorer.

The 30-year-old has confessed that he wants to stay with the champions for a longer duration.

The Netherlands international said: “I have three more years to go and I would like to stay longer.

“I know, and I see people around me, making decisions where I think these guys will look back and say ‘was that a good one?’ I don’t want that.

“I want to play as long as possible at the highest level.”

Van Persie made the switch to United from Arsenal in order to win trophies. The striker just managed to win the FA Cup in 2005 with the London club.

The striker already has this years Community Shield in his kitty and is set his sights on more trophies this season.

He added: “That [winning trophies] is what it is all about.

“Last year we got one trophy in four. Now we have to look at it from the opposite side.

“We have the chance to get five this year. How many do we get out of those five? In my opinion we should be able to win two or three.”

The striker will lead the United attack against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League play off on Tuesday.
