Rumour: Arsenal fan favourite, Bacary Sagna could walk away from Emirates

Bacary Sagna looks amost certain to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, as talks of a new contract stalled once again.

The French defender’s current deal expires at the end of the season and according to the Mirror, Sagna has suggested he may use that opportunity to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Arsenal had been keen to secure a new deal to keep Sagna at the Emirates for a further new deals, but the two parties are at loggerheads over terms.

Sagna is believed to want a three-year deal if he is to prolong his stay with the Gunners, but with the Frenchman now 31-years-old, it would represent a radical shift in policy from Arsenal, who are wary of offering more than one-year extensions to players over the age of 30.

Arsenal wish to keep Sagna, as the right-back has been in fine form and played a key role in their rise to the top of the table this season, but are not willing to break their policy in order to satisfy his demands.

It is unlikely that Arsenal will look to sell and break up their squad in January, so Sagna will be free to talk to clubs now with a view to a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season, with Galatasaray prepared to offer him a four-year deal to move to Turkey.

Sagna has been in fine form for Arsenal this season, winning 61% of his tackles and 65% of his aerial duels.
