According to the Daily Mirror, La Liga giants Barcelona are plotting a swoop for Manchester United center back Nemanja Vidic in the summer transfer window.

The Serbian has been at the heart of Manchester United’s defence for a long time, however, with the arrival of new manager David Moyes, reports of the defender being unsettled have surfaced.

The former Spartak Moscow player has been a rock at the back since his return to first team football after a lengthy lay off due to injury. The captain has marshalled his troops, and has been one of the best performers for the Red Devils who have had an indifferent season so far.

Nemanja Vidic’s contract with the champions expires this summer, and although a new contract is on the table, the 32-year old seems reluctant to extend his contract which is publicly confirmed by the player’s agent, Silvano Martina.

A free transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer will be an attractive move for the defender, however, Manchester United will do all they can to keep hold of their star player amidst tumultous times at Old Trafford.
