Manchester United are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus in a deal that could see Shinji Kagawa return to his former employers, according to the Times.

David Moyes is in the market for a goal-scoring midfielder and has identified Reus as the perfect solution to the problems facing the Red Devils.

Reus scored 19 goals for Dortmund last season, and it is believed that Moyes is prepared to offer Kagawa in any deal for the German attacking midfielder.

United could also trigger Reus’ release clause of £29.4 million outright, but the club wants to offset some of the cost by offering Kagawa back to his old side. The player has also been linked with Arsenal too.

Scouts have also been watching Reus’ team-mate Ilkay Gundogan as Moyes prepares to bring in a raft of signings to reshape the team according to his ideals.

Reus has scored seven goals in 12 appearances in the Bundesliga for Dortmund this season, courtesy of an excellent 22.6 per cent conversion rate.
