Tottenham Hotspur supporters payed no heed to the caution issued by the authorities against using the word ‘yid’ during Tottenham’s game against Norwich on Saturday. The Guardian reports.

“We’ll sing what we want” roared the Spurs faithful followed by the age old chant of “Yid Army”. The police and match stewards did not react much to the chants.

The FA imposed laws banning the use of the word and suggested that fans who defy the rule face bans. Tottenham are currently considering the situation and are in talks with the authorities and fan groups over the issue.

The club has a large number of Jewish supporters who take pride in chanting “Yid Army” as a sign of their support. Other fans believe that the usage of the word will only attract racism.
