Walcott set for £25 million deal with Arsenal

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott seems set to stay at the club, with many in the British media claiming he has been offered a new deal worth up to £25 million over the next 5 years.

The 23 year old has been involved in a contentious transfer dispute with the club over the last year, demanding a salary of £100,000 week and also the central striker role. His current contract expires in the summer, and is free to talk to foreign clubs this month.

Walcott’s position strengthened thanks to his improved form, with a stunning hat-trick in a 7-5 win over Reading justifying his stand considerably. Arsene Wenger, who was initially reluctant to use Walcott as the main striker, had even dropped Walcott for a period of time earlier this season.

With the player in such good form, it seems Arsenal have been forced to meet his demands, which will please Arsenal fans who have long complained about the annual exodus of their best players in recent years.

Walcott is set to be paid around £90,000 a week, and receiving another £3 million as a signing-on bonus. No official talks have been opened reportedly, but the management seem pretty confident of securing the striker’s future at the club by next week.
