Zidane has eased tensions about team harmony

After Real Madrid’s recent loss to Atletico in the derby on Saturday Ronaldo made some unsavoury comments on his teammates which led to questions about the relationship between the players.

But manager Zinedine Zidane ha come out and said that there is no problem and the team are in harmony. He said that Ronaldo has ensured the situation hasn’t blown and he has ended the debate. “Cristiano has spoken to everyone, with me and all, the matter is past.” he said, “We know the importance of Cristiano and we’re all with him. What’s important is what we have ahead of us and we’ll get through it together.”

Real Madrid’s captain Sergio Ramos also came out to defend the superstar insisting he is not that kind of person saying, “I know Cristiano well and I don’t think he was trying to shift the blame on to any of his team-mates.”

Real are now 12 points off the pace and are most likely to lose out on the title bar a dramatic collapse by Barcelona. Their defeat against their bitter rivals in the derby also left them four points adrift of Atletico, a gap that has temporarily increased to seven after they beat Real Sociedad last night.

Zidane has called unity in his squad amidst the recent poor results and says they have to face the challenge together

“The most important thing is what's ahead of us and we are going to face it together,'' he said. "We are united. We go day-to-day,When I got here everything was great and now that we lost a game everything is dark. My only interest is to keep working with my group because I know that together we can move forward.”

Ronaldo retracts comments on teammates

After the Atletico Madrid game, Ronaldo had this to say, “If we were all at my level, maybe we would be leaders”. He also went to say that the team miss the likes of Bale and Benzema which is hurting their chances.

But the Portuguese international later retracted the statement on his official twitter account he is not better than anyone at Madrid and did not mean to offend any of his teammates

Real Madrid will travel to basement dwellers Levante on Thursday, as the team will continue to play without several major stars.
