Eddie Hearn, Belal Muhammad, and others have expressed their thoughts on Arnold Barboza Jr.'s controversial win against Sean McComb.
McCombe and Barboza Jr. squared off for the interim WBO Inter-Continental super lightweight title on April 20. The event was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
McComb (18-2) was on a seven-fight win streak. Last December, 'The Public Nuisance' defeated Sam Maxwell by unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, his undefeated opponent, Barboza Jr. (30-0), defeated Xolisani Ndongeni in January with an eighth-round corner stoppage.
The fight lasted 10 rounds, and many believed McComb had done enough to win. However, Barboza Jr. ultimately emerged victorious due to a split decision. The California native won the fight 92-98, 96-94, and 97-93, according to the three judges' scorecards.
Fans were left furious and soon rushed to the comments section to share their disappointment.
One fan wrote:
''#MCCOMB ROBBED !!!!! #HaneyGarcia''
Another fan wrote:
''Those judges were paid off beyond belief. The amount of corruption in boxing that has never been fully addressed is wild.''
Citing the corruption in boxing, one fan wrote:
''There needs to be a solution to this, boxing will be corrupt until the end of time if the judges clearly rig fights like this''
Check out some more reactions below:
Eddie Hearn, who spoke about the fight on the DAZN broadcast, was equally dissatisfied with the outcome. He said:
''How on earth do you have a scorecard that is 98-92 for McComb and 97-93 for Barboza? Makes absolutely no sense at all. I thought McComb won. The wideness of the scorecards, that has to be impossible. It just doesn't make sense."
UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammed also took to X and expressed his disappointment, writing:
''Woow boxing is trash that was a clear win for the other guy''
