Could Aaron Rodgers have played his last NFL game last night?

It wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he decides to step away and retire from the game of football this offseason. The 39-year-old quarterback and the Green Bay Packers missed the playoffs this season, as they lost to the Detroit Lions last night.

Rodgers also had a decline in production this season, after winning back-to-back MVP's the two seasons prior.

Rodgers has flirted with the idea of retiring multiple times, and as his offseason begins now, rumors and speculation will begin to pile up.

They began last night with a few of his post-game comments.

Rodgers said that he's thankful for the generational wealth he's been able to make playing with the Packers in his career.

Rodgers said:

“Money is energy, and I have made a ton of it and I’m very thankful for this organization, the generational wealth that they’ve offered me.”

More speculation arose that Rodgers could have hinted at retirement at the conclusion of last night's game.

When Lions rookie wide receiver Jameson Williams asked Rodgers for a jersey swap at the end of the game, Rodgers responded by saying:

"I'm gonna hold on to this one."

The Packers suffered defeat to their division foe, the Detroit Lions. Detroit spoiled their chances in the quest for the Super Bowl.

If Green Bay had won yesterday's game, they would have made the playoffs as a wildcard team, but instead, finished their season 8-9, which was third place in the NFC North.

Aaron Rodgers finished the season with a 8-9 record, missing the playoffs and placing third in the NFC North. Two seasons prior, he finished 13-3 and led GB to the playoffs, while also winning MVP in both seasons.

He threw a career-low 91.1 quarterback rating this season while throwing 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Green Bay have also lost their number one target in the past five years in wide receiver Davante Adams. They traded the All-Pro wide receiver to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first-round pick. His presence was missed in the GB offense.

Rodgers signed an extension last offseason, but he could still decide to retire. The rumors and speculation will continue to rise as we approach the offseason.
