“That was a clown show” - Skip Bayless slams Bill Belichick’s performance last season amid QB controversy

Last season, Bill Belichick's New England Patriots had a down-season as they finished the year 8-9, at the third place in the AFC East division.

While they had a solid defense, the same can't be said about their offense. They were ranked 26th in yards per game (314.6) and 17th in points per game (21.4). They also finished last in red zone percentage with 42.22.

Undisputed host Skip Bayless thinks head coach Bill Belichick is to blame for the Patriots' offensive woes last season. The analyst slammed Belichick's and the Patriots' offensive performances last season and called it a clown show.

"You know it's, I called it and I can't believe I was put in these two terms or this full term in the same sentence with Bill Belichick. That was a clown show. Yes. That was Bill Belichick saying, 'I'm such a genius. I'm going to show you I'm the equal of Tom Brady, because I'll even be better because I'm going to run the offense and the defense he oversaw.'"

Bayless added that he thinks Belichick was trying to prove himself to be a genius by having some power in calling the offense last season.

"And I told you from day one, I believe he called a lot of the plays or at least did the sign off where it's either run or pass. Run it, pass it. You pick the play, run it, run it, throw it right. Belichick went to say, 'Watch me, watch what I did. I'm going to polish the other side of my genius because I'm going to go Tom Landry on you because Landry ran both sides of the ball.'"

Amid their offensive struggles, the New England Patriots have shopped quarterback Mac Jones this off-season.

The team could be looking to trade him for multiple reasons. The Patriots unit is reportedly upset that Jones contacted the University of Alabama seeking advice on how to perform better in their offense, instead of speaking with the team.

They were also agitated at how Jones would yell and shout during games this past season.

Jones also performed worse in his second season with the team compared to his rookie season. He went 6-8 as the starter, and also saw a drop in touchdown passes, yards, completion percentage, and passer rating.
