The Indian Mixed Badminton team made sure that the country got over their Monday blues by celebrating another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. India beat Malaysia in the finals of the mixed events, winning by three matches to one. Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal won their Singles matches and a team of Ashwini Ponappa and Satwik Rankireddy came out on top in Mixed Doubles to make sure India win the top prize.

India started the match on a positive note, when Rankireddy and Ponappa defeated Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh. Rankireddy and Ponappa won the first game 21-14 but were pegged back by the Malaysian team in the very next game. The Indian team, however, came out on top eventually, defeating the Malaysians 21-15 in the final game.

Kidambi Srikanth continued India's domination, defeating former world no. 1 Lee Chong Wei in straight sets. High-flying Srikanth, who has recently been given the number one seed for the upcoming Asian Championships, won 21-14, 21-17.

Malaysia pegged India back, however, in the Men's doubles when the team of Goh and Tan defeated Chirag Shetty and the previously on-fire Rankireddy in straight games.

Saina was sent in next to defuse any possibility of a comeback and she did not disappoint. Although Soniia Cheah made her work hard, Saina prevailed 21-11, 19-21, 21-9 to hand the gold to Team India.

Relive the moment India won the Commonwealth Games gold, as will the Shuttlers tonight before they get back to work from tomorrow morning to ensure more medals in Singles and Doubles categories.
