Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian was pleased with comedian Chris Rock mentioning his wife during his Netflix stand-up special "Chris Rock: Selective Outrage" in Baltimore.

Rock spoke about a number of things during the show, including the controversial incident between himself and Will Smith at last year's Academy Awards. The comedian also mentioned Williams while talking about gaining attention.

Rock claimed that excellence was the best way to get attention and cited the 23-time Grand Slam champion as an example.

"Easiest way to get attention, to be excellent. That’s right. Like Serena Williams, the greatest tennis player to ever play the game. Absolutely excellent, being excellent will get you attention," he said.
"But it’s hard being excellent. You’ve got to get up in the morning. you’ve got to work out, you’ve got to practice."

Alexis Ohanian watched Rock's show and was expectedly pleased that the famous comedian mentioned his wife's name. The Reddit co-founder took to Twitter and wrote:

"Tuned in to #ChrisRock live tonight!"

He added in another tweet:

"And you know I loved the @SerenaWilliams shoutout. (Chris did it at the Palm Springs show I saw & I wasn't sure it'd make it into the final set)."

Serena Williams was recently honored by NBA team, the Philadelphia 76ers, as part of Women's History month. Multiple personnel from the team lavished praise on her in a video.

Shooting guard Shake Milton called Williams the GOAT and said that she might be the greatest athlete in history

"She's the GOAT, hands down like it's not even debatable. She might be the greatest athlete of all time, period! It takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice amongst other things to be able to do what she does. She's an inspiration," Milton said.

James Harden, who, like Serena Williams, also hails from Compton, called the 41-year-old a sporting legend.

"You know, we're from the same place, both from Compton," Harden said.
"So, the amount of distraction is crazy and for her to make it out of Compton and recognize as the best female player to touch a racket and not even just tennis but she's a sports icon, sports legend in general."

Williams announced her retirement from tennis last season. Her final tournament was the 2022 US Open, where she reached the third round before losing to eventual quarterfinalist Ajla Tomljanovic.

The American ended the 2022 season with three wins from seven matches.
