NHL: Winnipeg Jets at New York Rangers
Alex Wennberg will play against Washington on Friday

NHL insider Mollie Walker's recent tweet sheds light on Alex Wennberg's availability for the upcoming game. Despite missing a practice session due to maintenance, Wennberg, dealing with an undisclosed injury, is expected to feature in Game 3 against Washington on Friday. This update comes directly from Laviolette.

"Alex Wennberg is on the ice for optional #NYR morning skate after missing the last practice for maintenance purposes, per Laviolette," Mollie Walker tweeted.

Taking a rest day on Thursday, Wennberg returned to the ice for the morning skate on Friday. The 29-year-old is slated to anchor the third line alongside Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko. Additionally, he will be playing on the second power-play unit.

Since his trade from Seattle on March 6, Wennberg's stint with the Rangers has been slightly muted in offensive output. He has tallied one goal and four assists across 19 games.

Alex Wennberg and Rangers secured a 4-3 victory over Capitals

An exciting game ended up with the New York Rangers beating the Washington Capitals 4-3 in Game 2 of the playoffs.

Vincent Trocheck and Mika Zibanejad spearheaded the Rangers' attack by scoring and providing assists. Jack Roslovic and K'Andre Miller also found the back of the net for New York, with assists from Erik Gustafsson and Alexis Lafreniere. Goalie Igor Shesterkin made 22 saves to bolster the Rangers' efforts.

Despite goals from Capitals' Tom Wilson, Connor McMichael and Dylan Strome, the Rangers managed to maintain their lead. The Capitals' star player, Alex Ovechkin, was limited to just one shot on goal.

The match did not lack moments of pressure, such as a fiery confrontation between the players and the Rangers' crucial penalty kill. Finally, New York's resilience and their special teams conquered the game.

With this win, the Rangers continued their four-game winning streak and in the process also held a 2-0 series lead. The strong offense only had one bad game. Their solid defense and standout performances from key players give them an edge heading into the series to Washington for Game 3.

Why does Alex Wennberg use a white stick?

Alex Wennberg's all-white stick is a childhood preference. He believes it brings him success.

“There’s no bigger secret than I just really like the look and feel,” Wennberg said. “I like solid colors... I really like the look of white tape, so I’ve been leaning towards that..."

Using the Bauer Proto R stick since November, Wennberg's customization adds to its uniqueness. He uses it to confuse opponents during play. It has helped him perform with the Rangers.
