"Hold him hostage to get some of the Lakers draft capital" - Lakers fans anxious as team targets Bronny James with 55th pick

Lakers fans are anxious about the team drafting Bronny James with the 55th overall pick.

The LA Lakers are reportedly looking to pick Bronny James in the upcoming NBA draft, and he could fall in the 55th overall pick. However, some Lakers fans online are anxious about not picking Bronny early in the draft, with a team like the Utah Jazz lurking around LeBron James' son.

According to Krysten Peek of Yahoo! Sports, the Jazz are interested in selecting Bronny with the 32nd overall pick in the draft. Owner Ryan Smith would love to have a superstar in Utah, and using Bronny to lure LeBron to Salt Lake City won't be a bad move.

Meanwhile, Dan Woike of the LA Times has reported that Bronny's draft floor could be the 55th overall pick by the Lakers. The 19-year-old guard impressed scouts with his vertical and 3-point shooting drills, but some were turned off by his height and performance in the scrimmage.

Some LA Lakers fans are worried that the Utah Jazz could swoop in and draft Bronny James.

The Jazz are certainly not afraid to use their picks, as they have plenty in the vault. LeBron James' main goal now is to play with Bronny, so it might not be impossible to see him join the Jazz if the franchise picks his son.

"Danny (Ainge) is gonna draft Bronny and hold him hostage to get some of the Lakers draft capital," one fan commented.
"LeBron would rather trade AD for Bronny than go to Utah," another fan claimed.
"They just want the Lakers to use pick 17 on Bronny," a fan remarked.

Other LA Lakers fans are fine with the team drafting Bronny James. Some just don't want to fall victim to other teams trying to get something like draft picks.

"A team is gonna take Bronny in the draft before LA just to be petty," one fan wrote.
"Bronny is Lakers'nonly hope to retain LeBron," another fan commented.
"That scouting report is frightening. He should be back in school," a fan suggested.

Bronny James' NBA comparison

In a recent episode of "NBA Today' on ESPN, March J. Spears revealed what a couple of NBA scouts thought of Bronny James. One of the scouts was not impressed with Bronny and thought that he should go back to school because he's not yet ready to turn professional.

Meanwhile, the other scout compared Bronny's game to a "poor man's version" of Sacramento Kings guard Davion Mitchell. It's not a bad comparison, considering Mitchell and Bronny have the same stature and would thrive on defense.

"Positional athlete, doesn't function as an elite athlete. Tweener stuck between two positions. Should be a point guard based on his size but he can't run an offense.
"He's handicapped as an undersiz shooting guard because he can't shoot. ... Strength is supposed to be defensively, but he's a switch matchup every bigger player who switched on him scored. He's comp? A poor man's Davion Mitchell. He is not an NBA prospect," Spears read.
