Sebastain Soderberg, 2024 PGA Championship - Round One

Sebastian Soderberg starred in one of the most spectacular plays of the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship. The Swede played in the morning wave and made headlines with a hole-in-one.

Soderberg's ace occurred on the 173-yard 8th hole. He used an 8-iron to execute his tee shot, with such good fortune that it went straight into the hole. The shot represented an eagle for Soderberg on the hole.

This hole-in-one by Sebastian Soderberg is only the fourth reported across four editions of the PGA Championship held at Valhalla Golf Club.

The previous three occurred in 1996 during the first of the four editions of the event that have been held at this course. Vijay Singh, Steve Lowry and George Bowman were the owners of the three aces reported in that edition.

Sebastian Soderberg's ace is the 49th in the PGA Championship since 1963. The most recent previous ace was achieved by Michael Block during the fourth round of the 2023 edition at Oax Hill.

Soderberg is a 33-year-old Swedish player who has played primarily in Europe. He is currently ranked 92nd, according to the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

The Swede qualified for the 2024 PGA Championship by finishing in the top 3 in the DP World Tour Asian Swing event rankings. He has achieved six career victories, including one on the DP World Tour.

Xander Schauffele currently leads the 2024 PGA Championship with a score of 9 under.
