D’Angelo Russell is a basketball player from the United States. He was born on February 23, 1996, and is nicknamed “DLo”. D’Angelo plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association.

D’Angelo was born in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. His parents, Antonio and Keisha Rowe, always motivated him to work hard and pursue his career in sports. D’Angelo was interested in basketball at a young age and this came from his father, Antonio. His father also played basketball at school and college levels. D’Angelo was primarily raised by his mother as his father was imprisoned when he was young.

During childhood, D’Angelo Russell initially attended Central High School in his hometown. A year later, he went to the Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. After completing his studies at school, D’Angelo began his college career at Ohio State in 2014. He just spent a season at this college and later decided to play at a pro level. For this, D’Angelo entered the NBA draft on April 22, 2015. Subsequently, he was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick on June 25, 2015.

NBA Career

After the Los Angeles Lakers selected him on June 25, D’Angelo Russell made his NBA debut in 2015. He spent two seasons with this squad and received the NBA All-Rookie Second Team award during this time. D’Angelo also suffered from calf and knee injuries with the Los Angeles Lakers. After playing two seasons with this team, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets on June 22, 2017.

After joining the Brooklyn Nets, D’Angelo led the team to victories against several teams. During his gameplay with this team, he got to play in his first NBA All-Star team in 2019. This was a golden opportunity for him. On June 28, 2019, the team extended a qualifying offer to make him an unrestricted free agent.

On July 7, 2021, D’Angelo was traded to the Golden State Warriors, in a sign-and-trade deal for Kevin Durant. He just played one season with the franchise and was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves along with many of his teammates including Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman. In February 2023, this franchise traded him back to his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
