After graduating from Saginaw High School, Darvin Ham was recruited by Texas Tech University. Ham represented the Red Raiders from 1993 to 1996 under head coach James Dickey's guidance and proved his worth as an attacking scorer and defender.

Having showcased his abilities on the court as a dominant, impressive small forward, Ham was named to the Southwest Conference Defensive team, and the All-SWC second team, and became the first-ever Texas Tech player to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Having joined Milwaukee in 2018 along with Mike Budenholzer, the Bucks immediately became one of the best teams in the League. Ham played an essential role in supporting Budenholzer and guiding the team to their third-ever finals and second-ever NBA title in 2021.Ham and Budenholzer also previously served as assistant coach and head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons and worked alongside in developing the Hawks as legitimate title contenders in 2015 and 2016.
