As a widely recognized basketball prospect, Mitchell committed to play for the Auburn Tigers for college. However, he later transferred to Baylor. Mitchell’s ability as a leader developed in college and reflected on the team’s success in the NCAA, winning the coveted college championship in 2021. As a very impactful player, Mitchell was acknowledged for his defensive ability and high IQ by being named the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
