Born on December 20, 1997, in New Orleans, Louisiana, De’Aaron Fox is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball at the University of Kentucky and was drafted by the Kings with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
In the 2020-2021 season, Fox averaged 25.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, earning him a spot on the NBA All-Star team for the first time in his career. He established himself as one of the league's most promising young point guards, known for his quickness, agility, and play making ability.
Fox was brought up in a basketball loving family, with his both father and mother, having played college basketball.
De’Aaron Fox developed a love for the game and worked on improving the game at a very young age. He played at the point guard position and started playing for Cypress Lakes high school in Katy, Texas, and was considered one of the top high school basketball players in the country.
During his high school career, Fox led Cypress Lakes to two district championships and was named the 2016 Texas Mr. Basketball. He also competed in the McDonald's All-American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit in 2016. After high school, Fox committed to play college basketball at the University of Kentucky, where he averaged 16.7 points and 4.6 assists per game.
De’Aaron Fox was selected by the Sacramento Kings as the 5th overall choice in the 2017 NBA draft. He quickly established himself as the key player for the kings and started in 60 out of 70 games in his rookie season. He averaged 11.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game, earning NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors.
Fox improved on his skills and scored with a better average of 17.3 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in his second season. In the same season he also made a record for the most steals of 133 and his excellent performance earned him a spot in the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge and the 2019 NBA Skills Challenge.
He was selected as an All-Star for the first time as a reserve in the NBA 2022-23 season and was a replacement for the injured Stephen Curry. During the first game of the 2023 playoffs against the Golden State Warriors, De'Aaron Fox scored 38 points and this impressive performance for Fox in his playoff debut, made him the second player to score the second-most points in a playoff debut, behind Luka Doncic who had scored 42 points in 2020.

His parents took divorce when he was a child, thus, he spent much of his childhood living with his mother and sisters in Houston, Texas. His mother worked as a nurse to support the family, and Fox often had to take care of his younger sister.
