Greece is placed in Group C along with New Zealand, USA, and Jordan. This pool will be one of the toughest groups in the entire cluster as five times World Cup champion, USA and three times FIBA Oceania champions, New Zealand (nicknamed Tall Blacks) are in this pool. All the matches for the first round will be played at the Mall of Asia, Philippines.
This event will act as a qualifying round for the 2024 Summer Olympics which are going to take place in France. Two teams from both America and Europe will qualify and one each from the remaining, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
Team Greece Roster
Less than 45 days remaining for the biggest event in the basketball world. All the teams have started to announce their roster for the tournament. Team Greece has not been able to put forward their final roster. There is a little bewilderment among the team as a few key players in the team are injured. Tyler Dorsey’s name is not on the list. Milwaukee Star Giannis Antetokounmpo has recently undergone a minor surgery (cartilage cleaning) and is now in his rehab period. However, a video was posted by Giannis on social media where he was dribbling the football which indicates his sign of being well. His playing is still questionable and the team is waiting for his final call.
Till now, Greece hasn't lifted the FIBA trophy in their nine FIBA appearances but will definitely aim for this time if MVP Antetoukunmpo joins the squad.
The team will have its first-round match on 26 August against Jordan. Then they will face the USA on 28 August, and finally New Zealand on 30th August. If Greece succeeds in making it to the top of their pool they will advance for the second round.
