Gordon Daniel Hayward is an American professional basketball player who is currently signed with the Charlotte Hornets in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Born March 23, 1990, in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S., Hayward attended Brownsburg High School in Brownsburg, Indiana. A tennis player initially, Hayward shifted to playing basketball later in high school. Hayward, along with the help of his teammates, led his school to the Indiana Class 4A state championship during his senior year. It was in fact Hayward who made the game-winning basket at the buzzer in the title game.

Hayward would go on to be voted the Indianapolis Star Player of the Year and was also selected to the First-team All-State by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

For college, Gordon Hayward committed to Butler University on a scholarship offer and played college basketball for the Butler Bulldogs. He famously led them all the way to the championship game at the 2010 NCAA tournament against Duke. He was subsequently selected to the All-Tournament Team for his heroics.

In the 2010 NBA Draft, Hayward was picked up by the Utah Jazz with the ninth overall pick. The one-time NBA All-Star averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in 50 games in the 2022/23 season.
