Hailing from America, Kris Murray was born on August 19, 2000. He played basketball for Prairie High School at a young age. Now, Kris is playing college basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball team in the Big Ten Conference.

Kris Murray was admitted to Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He played alongside his twin brother Keegan Mitchell Murray in high school. Kris Murray averaged 19.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. After graduating from Prairie, Kris and his brother, Keegan, enrolled at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. Following a postgraduate year at DME Academy, Kris Murray decided to play basketball for the University of Iowa.

As a freshman at Iowa Hawkeyes, Kris played in 13 games, all off the bench. As a sophomore, he participated in 35 games and averaged 9.7 rebounds and 4.3 rebounds. Following his second year, Kris Murray entered the 2022 NBA draft. He got an invitation to enter the NBA draft combine, but he rejected the offer. Shortly after this, Kris withdrew his name from the NBA draft.

Kris averaged 20.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during his gameplay with Iowa. He was selected to the first-team All-Big Ten Conference. After spending his junior season with Iowa, Kris entered the 2023 NBA draft.
